Even though Govinda doesn't pit heroes against heroes (which some call PvP) there are areas where some form of conflict exists. The auction house, for example, can have clear win-win situations, but it is quite possible to defeat someone there. There is of course dueling and collecting gear, but unfortunately those are polluted by the fact that older and wealthier people will always do better. There are the daily quests, like the butterflies, where some people just stand around, and others have to decide whether to kick them from their party (which could lead to a competition for resources) or accept them leeching, a kind of prisoner's dilemma involving 36 people. But currently the most interesting area is the event on channel one in Rorazan, which is quite similar to the event in Tergothen Bay, except that it doesn't announce the names of the top three heroes.
The event has a clear payout condition: you need 6000 points in order for everyone to get paid (there is a tiny amount paid in case the 6000 points isn't reached, but the effort spent on getting there is never worth it). However, unless you're trying to win the event (which allows you to purchase earrings with the bests stats on them) you're usually better off with limiting the amount of points you gather (you don't get any benefits over 1000 points, unless it improves your standings). Ideally you just do one quest, and get six Energy of Justice in return (one for the quest and five for being 5th to 10th on the rankings), or, if you want to be slightly more active, get 1000 points and get around 20 (10 for the quests and 10 for being fourth). Of course, if it's likely that the 6000 points isn't going to be reached within the eighteen minutes allocated for it, it makes sense to spend a little more effort.
One of the quests that is done to get points is "Extinguish more fires". People prefer to extinguish only those fires that are close to the quest giver, the other fires are usually left burning. Using a Galloping Gale potion and two of the patches you can quickly get 100 points each time you do it. Unfortunately, other people also know about this quest, and they like to sit on the patch. That is where contention begins, and you get some "PvP" (and, since this is is Govinda, shouting). So far I've remained fairly polite, but there will come a time when I will miss the 6000 points because of someone claiming that it is "their fire", and after that I most likely will no longer be nice about it. I don't mind respecting a fire when you're right on top of it, but the moment you leave, the place is fair game. We wouldn't want all of Rorazan to burn down because of you, now, would we?
